Care instructions
Cotton sateen, mako sateen, and regular cotton care
Bed linen made from natural fabrics – cotton, cotton sateen, and mako sateen – looks exactly as well-cared-for as it is.
Following the care recommendations will ensure the products retain their softness, smoothness, color intensity, and impeccable appearance for a long time.
Although the structure and density of these fabrics vary, they are all made from 100% natural cotton, so the care instructions are the same.
Before first use, it is recommended to wash the product thoroughly.
It is also important to note that products made from natural cotton are manufactured with the understanding that the fabric will shrink to a natural extent. With proper care, the natural shrinkage of cotton sateen and mako sateen averages 2–3%. The natural shrinkage of products made from regular cotton, when properly cared for, is approximately 4–5%.
- tool bag — up to 5 cm wide and long
- Pillowcase - up to 3 cm in width and length
- crocheted — up to 4 cm wide and long
Washing
- Party's going the wrong way
- Temperature — up to 40°C
- Use the delicate or normal wash program
- Avoid quick wash cycles
Why is this important
Temperatures up to 40°C gently clean the fabric without damaging the fibers or causing excessive shrinkage.
If these recommendations are not followed:
- The color may fade
- The fabric can fade
- softness decreases
- Contraction can be greater
Quick wash programs are also not recommended, as they use a stronger spin cycle, which accelerates fabric wear.
Loading the washing machine
- Do not overfill the washing machine
- Leave enough room for movement on the fabric
If this is not followed:
- friction increases
- strong wrinkles and fracture lines appear
- The fabric wears out faster
Centrifugation
- Up to 800 rpm
Why is this important
Moderate centrifugation reduces stress on the fabric and helps maintain its structure.
If this is not followed:
High-speed centrifuging causes intense friction against the drum and other items, especially if their compositions differ. This can lead to:
- damage to the skin structure
- Origin of the word topiluse
- strong fracture lines and deformation
Drying
- Preferably natural drying
- Dry on a drying rack indoors or in the shade
- Avoid direct sunlight
Why is this important
Sun and high temperatures damage dyes and fabric fibers.
If this is not followed:
- The fabric can fade
- the color becomes dull
- The fabric becomes stiffer
Using the dryer
- Only at the lowest temperature and lowest drying spin speed
- Use only gentle programs
- Avoid programs such as „quick dry“, „cupboard dry“ etc.
If this is not followed:
- strong fault lines appear
- Kangaskortsub more
- The fabric becomes stiffer
- Significant shrinkage may occur
Ironing
- Iron inside out
- Temperature — up to 150°C
If this is not followed:
Excessively high temperatures can damage fibers and reduce fabric smoothness.
Forbidden
- Do not use bleach
- Do not dry clean
- Do not use harsh detergents
- Do not use detergents containing whitening components
Important to consider
- Wash and dry with like colors
- Do not wash with rough fabrics
- Do not mix with fabrics of different compositions (especially synthetics)
- Don't use too much detergent.
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated cupboard.
- Keep in airtight bags
- Avoid damp rooms
Why is this important
Natural cotton needs to „breathe.“.
If this is not followed:
- An unpleasant odor may occur
- The fabric is losing its freshness
Recommendations for long lifespan
- Always wash products inside out
- Do not use hot water
- Do not use a powerful centrifuge
- Avoid express wash programs
- Do not dry with hot air
- Do not use intense drying programs
With proper care, bedding will retain its softness, appearance, and comfort even after more than 300 washes (and over 400 washes for mako satin).
Waffle Weave and Cotton Knit Fabric Care
Products made of waffle weave and knitted cotton fabric require particularly gentle and careful care. This is due to the special structure of these fabrics. Waffle weave is characterized by a voluminous and airy texture, created by a special thread weave. Knitted cotton fabric is also made using a special knitting technique, which gives it an expressive texture, great durability, and a natural appearance.
It is precisely due to this structure that these fabrics are soft, airy, pleasant to the touch, textured, and aesthetic. However, at the same time, they are very sensitive to improper care.
All products made from waffle fabric and woven cotton fabric are originally manufactured with the expectation that natural cotton will shrink to a certain extent when washed. With proper care, shrinkage averages up to 10%—this is a completely normal and expected process for these natural cotton fabrics.
Washing
- Temperature — not above 30°C
- Use a gentle or delicate wash program.
Why is this important
Waffle fabric has a fluffy and voluminous structure, and cotton fabric is characterized by its embossed weave. Cotton fibers shrink significantly at high temperatures.
If these recommendations are not followed:
- A very large shrinkage may occur
- The fabric can lose its shape
- the texture becomes less expressive and „compressed“
Loading the washing machine
- Do not overfill the washing machine
- Leave enough room for movement on the fabric
If this is not followed:
- friction increases
- The frame structure may deform
- The product wears out faster
Centrifugation
- Up to 600 rpm
Why is this important
Even moderate spinning strains the fabric's structure.
If this is not followed:
Strong centrifugation can cause:
- very large contraction
- product deformation
- Kangaroo texture damage
Drying
- Natural drying only
- Dry flat on a drying rack
- Preferably indoors or in the shade
Why is this important
Both waffle knit and cotton woven fabrics are very sensitive to heat.
Strictly forbidden
- ❌ Drying in a dryer
If this is not followed:
Drying in a tumble dryer can cause:
- very strong contraction
- product deformation
- Disappearance of the kangaroo structure
Ironing
- Usually not necessary
- Iron on a low heat or with steam if needed
Why is this important
Excessively high temperatures can „press flat“ the embossed texture and reduce the fabric's characteristic structure.
If the fabric has shrunk significantly
Sometimes waffle weave or knitted cotton fabric can shrink more after washing. This is related to the natural cotton composition and the fabric's voluminous structure.
In that case, it is recommended
- Straighten and gently stretch the damp products carefully
- shape it as desired immediately after washing
After complete drying, you can also:
- Steam iron or steam generator for fabric treatment
Why does this work
It also softens the cotton fibers and partially loosens the fabric's structure.
As a result:
- The fabric is becoming more uniform
- reduces excessive „compressed“ effect
- Waffle weave checks become less frequent and more squared.
- The product can be slightly adjusted in size/dimensions.
This helps to partially restore the original look and shape of the fabric if shrinkage was greater than expected.
Forbidden
- ❌ Drying in a dryer
- ❌ High washing temperatures
- ❌ Strong spin
- ❌ Aggressive detergents and bleaches
Important to consider
- Wash only with like-colored items
- Do not wash with rough fabrics
- Do not mix with synthetic materials
- Don't use too much detergent.
Storage
- Store in a dry and well-ventilated place
- Keep in airtight bags
- Avoid moisture
Why is this important
Natural cotton should maintain its “fluffiness” and freshness.
Recommendations for long lifespan
- Always follow a low wash temperature
- Do not use the dryer
- Avoid strong spinning
- Dry naturally
- Do not overfill the washing machine
With proper care, waffle weave and woven cotton fabrics will retain their softness, embossed texture, shape, and beautiful appearance, remaining comfortable and aesthetically pleasing for a very long time.
